1. Atlas Shrugged: Part I and Part II (2011 and 2012)
This is the neo-conservative's bible. Ayn Rand's novel focuses on a dystopian United States where individuals choose not to work due to heavy taxes and businesses shutting down due to harsh government regulations. The story follows Dagny Taggart who pushes an innovation to railroad metal that is cheaper and stronger. In addition to this, the country's most productive members go into hiding, striking against the individuals who use the force of the law to guilt trip all them for their accomplishments. Needless to say, Thatcher probably would have loved this movie as much as the book, solely because it attacks the stereotypical "bleeding heart liberal" and "welfare queens", stating that they are the issue holding back the country and possibly the world. They are the ones who are preventing the advancement of humanity. Considering Thatcher's policies that marked a sharp increase in unemployment (increase in new technologies) and increase in interest rates, this only made those who made the most money in the most efficient manner (laying off workers) more well of. I am not an economics major, but I'm sure that more Thatcher-era politics would push the UK to an
Atlas Shrugged level economy.
