RIP Margaret Thatcher: 10 Right-Wing Films She Probably Loved

2. Dirty Harry (1971)

Dirty Harry - edited for article This is another one that I'm sure is higher on the American conservative's list. Clint Eastwood stars as the eponymous character "Dirty" Harry Callahan. In the film, Callahan is the stereotypical loose cannon who shoots first and asks questions later. Callahan chases down a serial murderer known as Scorpio. When Scorpio is eventually caught (after killing a police officer, a young black boy, and a girl he raped), he is let go because Callahan did not follow proper procedure to search Scorpio's apartment and seize the weapon of choice. After a stern warning from his superior to no longer pursue Scorpio, Callahan tracks him down anyway after Scorpio kidnaps a school bus full of children. After a climactic shootout, Callahan shoots Scorpio and throws his badge away. This is more of a George W. Bush era conservative film, but still one that Thatcher most likely would enjoy. Maybe with a little less violence though.
