10. Starkiller Base Is Ilum (The Old Jedi Temple Planet)

As shown in Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, it turns out the existence of Starkiller Base as a terraformed planet is even more horrifying in-canon than we thought.

Although the movies do very little with it other that referring to the base as a "bigger Death Star", the planet's original name was Ilum - the place where young padawans go to enhance their kyber crystals when training and building lightsabers, and a location playable in the Jedi Fallen Order game.

Thematically, the idea of transforming a place of peace and tradition into a literal extremist weapon could've been one of the best ways to establish the First Order as a threatening force, but it was left out the new trilogy altogether.

Another tidbit is that the base took 52 years to build, and was claimed just one year after Luke and Leia were born. Almost like Starkiller was "always" the big weapon even the Empire cared about the most, and the Death Stars were far more mobile offshoots.

Way to retcon everything into some semblance of sense there, Disney.
