5. Robocop 2 (1990)

After the huge success of the original movie it was inevitable that a second Robocop would follow shortly. By simply watching the trailer's alone side by side you could be forgiven for thinking Robocop 2 looks like a way cooler movie than the original. Hopefully you realise that that is not the case and rather there had been significant advances in film making in the 3 years since Paul Verhoeven's original. In this trailer Robocop has become a little more human and in fact makes some pretty horrible puns that are right up there with Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Knock knock" line in the original Predator movie. The script was written largely by Frank Miller which explains the much more comic book-like style and tone as opposed to the oppressive dystopia shown in the original. Many argue that at the end of Robocop Murphy had regained some of his humanity only for it all to be removed again by the sequel but in my opinion making Robocop too human is a mistake and something I shall touch upon when we look at the trailer for the reboot.
