Sage Stallone, Son of Sylvester, Found Dead - Cause of Death Still Unknown
Mystery still surrounds the death of actor Sage Stallone.
Mystery still surrounds the death of actor Sage Stallone, son of Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone, two days after being found dead at his Los Angeles apartment at the age of 36. The actor will be remembered mostly by his portrayal of Robert Balboa - son of Rocky in the fifth iteration of the boxing series in 1990. He again starred alongside his father in 1996 disaster film "Daylight" as Vincent, a young con-artist. Milo Ventimiglia would later portray the elder Robert Balboa in 2006 movie Rocky 6. His last appearance was in short film "The Agent" in 2010, and before that, in the same year, drama "Promises Written in Water", which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and was shown at the Toronto Film Festival, though was not released in cinemas. Sage's body was found by his housekeeper on Friday afternoon at his apartment in Studio City. Police were called when Sage's friends had raised the alarm after not hearing from him for some time. Whilst cause of death remains unknown, assistant chief coroner Ed Winter confirmed that prescription pill bottles had been recovered at the scene and that there was no sign of foul play, but stressed that the medications were not necessarily the cause of death. Paramedics were called but Sage was pronounced dead at the scene, and sources claim the young actor may even have been deceased 3-4 days prior to the discovery after apparently spending his final days in isolation from the world. No suicide note was found at the scene. Sage Stallone's attorney George Braunstein said the young actor was not known to be depressed. Speaking to NBC 4 television and the New York Post, he said:
"I got a terrible call a few hours ago ... when the housekeeper opened the door and they found what had happened. I'm personally devastated. It's just a tragic, tragic loss. "He was an extremely good actor, a good writer/director, really one of those people who was extremely respectful of Hollywood. He loved his mom and dad. He was a talented, talented person." "He was in good spirits, and working on all kinds of projects ... He was planning on getting married. I am just devastated. He was an extremely wonderful, loving guy. This is a tragedy."Sage came from a rich acting background. His uncle was actor and singer Frank Stallone, and his grandmother was Jackie Stallone. Jennifer Flavin was his stepmother, and his godfather was actor Joe Spinell. His dad Sylvester is due to star in sequel The Expendables 2 this August. Sage Stallone was of Italian, French and Russian-Jewish ancestry on his father's side. Sylvester divorced Sage's mother Sasha Czack in 1985.
