Sam Elliott in JESSIE'S GIRL

We've seen how Jesse James was assassinated, now it's time to find out what happened to his daughter!

Two Western stories in two days? Could it be? Moviehole are reporting that Western fav Sam Elliott has been cast in Jessie's Girl, a movie that will follow the illegitimate daughter of outlaw Jesse James, who himself just got his own cinematic portrayal from Brad Pitt in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford earlier this year. I'm not sure if it's true that James' daughter became a straight-shooting renegade after the death of her father but in terms of cinema, I think this might be the first female-led Western since Sharon Stone and The Quick and the Dead. The film will have no ties to the Pitt film and by the sounds of it, the final product will have more in common with the 3:10 to Yuma 'pulp' Western than the slow burning psychological one of The Assassination of Jesse James. Especially when you find out that Mark Lester is helming, he of Commando fame and several B and even Z-movie action flicks. William Forstythe, Pam Grier and Fred Williamson are also on board but we have no more details at this time. Has straight-to-dvd written all over it but if they frequently use Elliott in the film then he has that gift to make bad scenes look good. He did it for the moments he was in Ghost Rider at least. I wonder which B-grade actress gets chosen for this!
