The drama of who will be directing
Bond 24 has constantly been in the headlines recently as EON and Sony searched for a suitable candidate to helm the next installment in the long-running franchise. After
Skyfall director Sam Mendes said he would not be returning, the list began to include everyone from
Shane Black to Nicolas Winding Refn. Some fans hoped that Christopher Nolan would take the job, but his commitments to next year's
Interstellar made it unlikely he would be able to deliver a product up to his standards in time for a 2015 or 2016 release date. Then, it was revealed that Mendes would return not just for
Bond 24, but also
Bond 25 as well. As it turns out, the producers wanted the Oscar-winning director all along and are willing to wait for Mendes to complete work on theatrical productions before rolling the cameras on the next Bond film early next year. In an age of rushed sequels, this strategy is quite refreshing. Fans of
