Sandy Wexler Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs
5. It's 131 Minutes Long...For Some Reason
Probably the audience's biggest obstacle here isn't really the movie's inherent quality (or lack thereof), but that it clocks in at an abusively, exhaustingly, unreasonably long 131 minutes.
Such is the double-edged sword of Netflix allowing artists to release movies with little-to-no creative meddling. A mainstream movie studio would've made director Steve Brill trim this down to a more svelte and considerate 100 minutes, yet here, he's allowed to let loose and release a film as indulgent and unfiltered as possible.
The problem is that jokes drag on far too long and there are numerous uninteresting, flabby subplots that could be cut entirely. As such, there's absolutely no shame at all in viewers tackling this one over two sittings...if you're really that determined to watch it in the first place.
