Sandy Wexler Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

4. Rob Schneider Shows Up...In Brownface

It's an Adam Sandler movie so, of course, there's a pretty good chance that his pal Rob Schneider's going to show up at some point. Schneider appears at the tail-end of the movie in a cameo which sees him donning "brownface" in order to play Firuz, Sandy's landlord of sorts.

This isn't exactly a new trick: he's donned makeup to play Asian and Arab characters before, but one hoped that maybe, just maybe, in 2017, they might actually cast a racially-appropriate actor for the part, and maybe just put Schneider's crass bit to bed.

Schneider playing a brown man hasn't been funny for a long time, if ever, and his role here is an embarrassment for everyone associated with the film.
