Sausage Party Review: 5 Ups And 5 Downs

2. The Discovery Of The "Truth" Gives You Chills

What likely drew Rogen and Goldberg to the idea of Sausage Party was seeing animated food discovering what exactly their purpose in life was, scenes that really shine in the movie.

Of course there's the deliriously horrific kitchen scene that made the trailer pop (which regrettably comes a little too late in the movie to have the same effect it did there), but due to the movie's multi-strand narrative we get to see characters learning the extent of the truth in interesting ways - conversing with humans or through cookery books - making it one idea the film fully explores.

The result is rather impactful from a drama standpoint and, if you want to make Toy Story parallels, this is where they come strongest.
