4. The Douche Is Unnecessary

While the main plot is dealing with food and their plight against the vengeful "Gods", there is a more grounded antagonist in the form of a douche (called Douche) who is discarded by our heroes early on and comes back with a vengeance hunting them down, killing other foodstuffs to become stronger. That superpowered element is odd for sure, explained by a single hackneyed line, but it's his characterisation and role in the plot that really doesn't work.

Douche is not a prevalent villain, only turning up when things have ground to a halt, and he seems to only be there for an anal joke later on. Having a baddie on the level of the heroes may seem like a good way to build organic conflict, but, as with many genuine kids' films, in the framing narrative it just winds up feeling like a contrived distraction.
