10 Scariest Horror Movie Scenes Set In The Day
8. Aunt Gladys Controls Marcus - Weapons
With Weapons came a surprisingly good balance of disconcerting scenes set during both night and day. The kids running off in the first place, along with Paul (Alden Ehrenreich) dragging James (Austin Abrams) from the car into the house were utterly terrifying, as were the Aunt Gladys (Amy Madigan) jump scares, but more came in the daylight.
In fact, this was when the majority of the scary stuff took place, largely based around Gladys herself. This is a character that was crafted to be petrifyingly creepy regardless of the environment around her.
The scene in which she showed Alex (Carey Christopher) just how much control she had over his parents by making them stab themselves in the face with forks came as the young boy got home from school, but with the windows blocked out, there was still a certain element of darkness.
This wasn't the case for her visit to Marcus' (Benedict Wong) house. Gladys trapped the headteacher under her spell, and had him attack his partner, headbutting the man until his own face was puffy and bloated to the point of being unrecognisable, and Terry's (Clayton Farris) head nothing more than a small pile of mush. This was the full, Oscar-worthy performance of her power, and just how helpless anyone she targeted was.
