10 Scariest Horror Movie Scenes Set In The Day
7. Jason Attacks Alice - Friday The 13th
Of all the legendary slasher icons, among the likes of Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Leatherface, and even Art the Clown, Jason Voorhees is something of an outlier in that he wasn't actually the antagonist of the first Friday the 13th film. Yes, he has gone on to become the face/mask of the franchise, but he was barely in the original.
The story instead revolved around his mother's hunt for revenge against the councillors of Crystal Lake, after her son had died there the year before. That's not to say that Jason had no screen time, however.
His scene is one of the creepiest in the whole thing. After Alice Hardy (Adrienne King) had survived the night and killed Pamela Voorhees (Betsy Palmer), the slow, calm music played and she took everything in on a boat on the lake as the police arrived. Clearly the end, right? Wrong.
Young Jason's decomposing body jumping out of the water to drag Alice down below was a genuine jump scare - his look was disgusting, and it came just as the audience was able to let their guard down. A similar thing happened with Freddy (Robert Englund) four years later in A Nightmare on Elm Street, but this hit harder because it came so violently out of the blue.
