Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: Every Evil Ex Fight Ranked Worst To Best

3. Lucas Lee - Ex Number 2

Scott Pilgrim Movie Characters
Universal Pictures

This segment of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World was one that showed how creative and brilliant the story and filmmaker behind this movie are.

Lucas Lee is another ex that has had some significant build, with Scott's roommate Wallace frequently talking about him and the viewers even seeing Lucas in a movie trailer. So, when he finally appears it feels extraordinary, and seeing Chris Evans in the role is a nice touch seeing as the character is designed to be a huge Hollywood superstar.

What makes this sequence more interesting than the previous entries is the fact that it has plenty of variety. It begins with a funny interaction between Scott and Lee, then moves onto an appropriate fight between Pilgrim and the ex's stunt team, and then culminates with Scott goading Lucas Lee into loosing by manipulating his ego.

It is very cathartic to see Scott outwit the fighter, as they establish from the beginning of the battle that Lucas Lee easily outmuscles our protagonist. This is an indication for the future that Scott can fight but can also employ creative methods to win.

The only downside to the segment is the fact that the ending feels rather impersonal. Lucas Lee is defeated far away from us, and, although Scott did cause this, it still feels anticlimactic as there is no direct connection between the two.
