8. Ghostface Kills Dewey
Man, this really stung.
The saddest, biggest WTF moment in the movie occurs when Sam and Dewey rush to the hospital after learning that Ghostface is heading there to kill Tara.
Ghostface tries to make Sam choose between saving her sister or her boyfriend Richie, but Sam simply stalls until Dewey arrives and shoots Ghostface, incapacitating them.
But in a moment of infuriating stupidity given his history, Dewey doesn't confirm the kill or stay with the body: he helps Sam, Tara, and Richie to safety before heading back to shoot Ghostface in the head.
But of course, Dewey gets distracted by a call from Gale, giving Ghostface the opportunity to get the drop on Dewey and fatally stab him, complete with the parting line, "It's an honour."
Dewey dying was something many fans had predicted pre-release, but that didn't make it sting any less, especially given how much of his blood gets spilled.
It's well executed for sure - pardon the pun - but still a massive, massive bummer. Why didn't you just shoot Ghostface in the head, Dewey? Dammit.
