Given that Amber's actress Mikey Madison suffered a similar death in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood a few years ago - being set on fire with a flamethrower by Leonardo DiCaprio's Rick Dalton - this wildly over-the-top death was very likely not a coincidence.

Richie then gets his own comeuppance in similarly brutal fashion, when Sam reminds him that he probably shouldn't have picked a fight with the daughter of a serial killer.

Sam puts her psychotic tendencies to good use by absolutely butchering Richie with a knife, before taking a gun and shooting him multiple times to ensure he can't have "one last scare."

The last scare is afforded instead to Amber, who runs out of the kitchen with a half-melted head before she's finally put down for good by a gunshot from Tara.

Scream then wraps up fairly abruptly as Gale promises she won't write about Amber and Richie, preferring for them to die in anonymity instead.

The final shot then mirrors the memorable parting shot of the original Scream, the camera craning up over the Macher house as a news reporter films a report outside the scene.
