Shane Black’s The Predator: 10 Critical Reactions You Need To See

6. The Ultimate Predator Is Nothing Special

"What about the title character, the big guy? Well, he’s, um, big (11 as opposed to seven feet). And that, disappointingly, is about it; save for a tweak that partly ‘humanises’ the alien and partly mutes his mystique, he’s more about upscaling than upgrading." - GamesRadar
"Outside of his strength and size, this new Predator doesn’t seem particularly better or more cunning than his smaller counterpart." - IGN

One of the big new additions to the franchise, the Ultimate Predator - a genetically-upgraded version of the classic beastie - has been front-and-centre of The Predator's marketing campaign from the second it kicked off.

This new Predator is taller, more muscly, and carries a much more aggressive attitude when compared to the species' traditionally stealthy outlook on combat. And if critics are to be believed, he's also a bit of a dud.

By all accounts, the Ultimate Predator is just a big dumb movie monster. Many reviews stated that those physical upgrades weren't matched with additional smarts, and that the new creature definitely looks intimidating, but lacks the cunning to make it a truly terrifying force of nature.
