Shang-Chi & The Legend Of The Ten Rings: 9 Big Questions That Need Answering

1. Was That Fin Fang Foom?

The MCU was confirmed to be the home to at least one dragon back in 2017. Danny Rand's journey through K'un-Lun to become the Immortal Iron Fist took him face to face with the monastery's own dragon, but despite it being such an important part of his story, the Netflix show offered no look at Shou-Lao.

The second dragon of the franchise would appear to be coming with Shang-Chi. Part of the second trailer showed the titular character underwater, with a huge, menacing dragon lurking there with him.

Could this be the debut of the villainous Fin Fang Foom?

As with Giant Man in Captain America: Civil War, this reveal may have already been spoiled by the movie's merchandise, as there will be a figure of a dragon released labelled 'The Great Protector'. Though Fin Fang Foom has never gone by this name in the comics, this doesn't mean that the two can't be one and the same.

The Great Protector may take heavy inspiration from Fin Fang Foom, a shapeshifting alien that landed in Ancient China, and has been an adversary of The Mandarin in the past.

If Marvel Studios wanted a dragon in the movie, it would certainly be a strange decision to go with an original character that has no ties to the comics, rather than one who does.
