Shazam!: 7 Reveals From The New Teaser

The first trailer for Shazam! offered up a bit of a surprise when it came to Mark Strong's role as the villainous Dr. Sivana in that he seemed to have super-strength as a new power.

In the comics, Dr. Sivana is very much the Shazam equivalent of Lex Luthor; a villain with a genius-level intellect who is frequently using his brain rather than his brawn to challenge the hero. The only other power he's ever frequently had in the comics is that his right eye has the ability to see magic, which has changed meanings pretty drastically from one writer to the next over the years. But if you thought him being able to catch Shazam's punch in the first trailer was shocking, buckle up, because this new teaser takes things about a dozen steps further.

The new teaser gives us a handful of looks at Dr. Sivana, showing him flying alongside Shazam, shooting electric energy beams out of his fingertips, and punching Shazam through the sky. These are all new powers for the villain, whose backstory may be changed a bit to fit more succinctly with the superhero origin story the film looks to be telling.

Either way, Mark Strong looks great in the role, and it will be thrilling-at-least to see Sivana getting a bit more hands-on with our lovable hero.
