Sicario 2: Soldado Review - 5 Ups & 4 Downs

2. The Third Act Falls Pretty Flat

Sicario 2 is unquestionably at its strongest in its first half, when the various plot strands are slowly building up to what appears to be all-out war between the Mexican cartels.

Disappointing it is, then, that act three doesn't pay off most of its threads in particularly satisfying fashion. The attempt to connect the A-plot to the B-plot - the latter involving human trafficking - feels forced and clumsy, and several major characters end up behaving rather out-of-character from what we expect.

That's to say nothing of a final scene that's sure to be incredibly divisive among fans, depending on how you decide to read into it at least.
