Sin City: A Dame To Kill For - Ranking The Returning Characters

4. Senator Roark

As the original film's leader of the villainous Roark clan, the return of Powers Boothe as Senator Roark for the original stories "The Long Bad Night" and, in particular, "The Fat Loss" is curious. After losing his son Junior, that yellow bastard, at the hands of Hartigan and his brother, Cardinal Roark, to Marv in "The Hard Goodbye," seeing where the despicable Senator has ended up without a legacy in place is interesting territory that went unexplored in the graphic novels. With Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Johnny and Jessica Alba's Nancy out to get him this time around, we're itching to see if one or both can finally bring the man himself down once and for all. Boothe is more than capable of oozing both charm and malice, which he did to excellent effect in the original film, and since he's one of the few pre-existing characters being sent into uncharted story territory, it's hard not to be excited to see Roark get more to do and for Boothe to continue savoring a role he played with such relish once before.
