Skyfall: 10 Reasons It Will Be Awesome

1. Daniel Craig

The main man himself. Fresh from a four-year gap between Bond films, he's gotten married to fellow amazing Brit actor Rachel Weisz and honed his expertise as an actor even further, making his third outing as James Bond 007 an exciting opportunity. Craig has finally got the chance to move beyond Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, an arguable two-parter which helped establish Craig's presence as Bond. We've already seen him carving out his own niche as a Bondian actor - he's got the coolness of Connery, the dry, occasional wit of Brosnan and the deep, underlying darkness of Dalton, all of which Craig brings admirably to the surface. His incarnation of Bond is almost brutal, a blunt instrument that masquerades at being at home in the upper class world Bond often finds himself embroiled in and which Craig displays, showing a broken, battered man coming to terms with his past and his darkness. This time around, however, Craig isn't saddled with revenge against Vesper Lynd's death and betrayal - he hopefully will get a chance to show some lighter shades to Bond's soul this time around, even as he deals with enemy from the past Silva and with his loyalties to maternal figure M questioned. There's even a cheeky moment seen in the trailer where Bond drops from a crane into a half-wrecked passenger train carriage and sends half a beat straightening up his cuffs and suit before moving on - clearly Craig is having some relish playing with the whole spectrum of James Bond, something we saw in the superb Olympics segment ('Happy and Glorious') where he escorts the Queen (playing herself in a hell of a great turn of good sportsmanship) from Buckingham Palace to the Olympic Stadium in which they parachute into. Clearly, nobody does it better. So, that's it - hopefully if you weren't excited for the movie before, you are now, and if you were before, you can watch the trailers a few more times in anticipation for when the iconic gunbarrel scene crawls over our cinema screens and we're immersed, once again, in the world of 007.
