Skyfall: 10 Reasons It Will Be Awesome

2. Javier Bardem Is The Villain

One of the best actors of the current generation, Javier Bardem has proven time and time again a deserving recipient of critical acclaim for his nuanced and shifting performances - whether he's charming Julia Roberts in Indonesia or a villainous gangster hiring Tom Cruise in Los Angeles, all the way to his stunning turn in No Country For Old Men , Bardem is an Oscar-winning plum choice for any kind of interesting or intriguing role - and therefore, a surprisingly ingenious choice for Bond baddie Raul Silva. Silva, an enigmatic figure who has ties to both Bond and M, is shaping up to be a great harken back to the days of iconic, slightly maniacal villains - even his very appearance looks more of a classy, slightly camp callback to villains like Stromberg and Drax. Bardem sports ash blond hair and a vaguely sociopathic expression, both things which Bardem himself worked on and insisted on. Bardem, apart from being one of the only villains to have an Oscar to their name, has both a semi-household name, as opposed to previous villains Mads Mikkelsen and Mathieu Amalric, as well as the gravitas and flexibility as an actor to really pull the balance between villainous and ridiculous.
