There are certainly those who went into Slender Man hoping that it'd be an unintentionally hilarious good time and an instant so-bad-it's-good classic.

Sadly, that's mostly not the case.

There are certainly chuckle-worthy moments - the dialogue, the effects - but for the most part this film is just stamina-drainingly dull. Far too much time is devoted to characters staring into phone and computer screens, and not enough is done to build up the apparently terrifying nature of Slender Man's presence in the world.

Simply, if you're hoping for a laugh-a-minute dumpster fire, you might be disappointed by how utterly flat and characterless the entire movie is.

So, Slender Man is awful, no mistake, but these minor plusses just barely prevent it from being a totally irredeemable trainwreck...
