Slender Man Review: 2 Ups & 7 Downs

Ups...

2. The Solid Cinematography & Sound Editing

Slender Man
Sony

Though the direction isn't at all good and the visual effects are incredibly rough, there are definitely some stylish moments throughout the film, making the most of the eerie wooded locales and serving up some offputtingly surreal visuals.

Also, the sound editors certainly did their job capably, making vaguely clever use of tree branches straining and swaying in the wind to create something approaching an actual sense of atmosphere.

Sadly these successful stylistic flourishes are completely wasted on a movie that has very little interest in establishing a persistently creepy mood.
