Snape's 16 Greatest Moments In The Harry Potter Series

3. When He Took One For The Team

Killing Dumbledore wasn't an easy task or command to follow, but Snape did it for the greater good. This horrific act proved his love and loyalty to Dumbledore and the Order and apart from fooling Voldemort for all of those years, it is probably Snape's greatest achievement. However, it was at this moment that you hated Snape and therefore hated Rickman by association. We all thought he was a bad guy, but because JK revealed Snape's true self to Rickman way back during the filming of The Philosopher's Stone, it is clear to see that Rickman has revealed Snape's true colours here perfectly, and oh so subtly. The slight hesitation and the sadness in his eyes is what we needed to see not on the first viewing but for when we came back to re-watch the series after the Deathly Hallows when the truth was revealed.

2. "You Have Your Mother's Eyes"

This is probably the most overused sentence in the whole of the series and you were used to hearing it almost as much as Harry. But hearing these words come from Snape brought a whole new meaning to it and you love him for finally telling Harry.
