Solo: A Star Wars Story - Every Character Ranked Worst To Best

1. Han Solo

It's no easy feat stepping into the shoes of Harrison Ford, and even less so when you're strapping on the iconic blaster of Han Solo. Alden Ehrenreich, despite the concerns and acting coaches, manages to nail it.

Ehrenreich doesn't just attempt to mimic Ford, which wouldn't have made much sense given this Han is supposed to be different. There are enough recognisable elements in the wisecracking, cocksure attitude and some mannerisms the actor has clearly studied up on, ensuring this is still clearly Han, but with a few different shades to him as well.

He isn't just the in-it-for-himself scoundrel of Star Wars, but a young guy who clearly cares deeply about others and places trust in them (sometimes to a fault). Try as he might to convince us, and himself, otherwise, he is a good guy for the most part, and it's great (but also a little sad) to watch him gradually become the more closed-off cynic. Ehrenreich is cool, charming, but also a bit goofy too, and his Han is the heart of the movie.
