Sonic The Hedgehog Movie: How It Sets Up A Sequel

3. Adventures With Crazy Carl

The most grossly underused character in this first film is the chainsaw-wielding drunk, Crazy Carl.

While it was a wasted opportunity in the first film and it is probably not going to work with him trying to catch 'the blue devil', the arrival of Sonic's foxy friend Tails is a huge opportunity for a bit of conflict between Carl and our heroes.

With Sonic and the Wachowskis now very much at home in Green Hills, the interactions between the super fast fox and the town drunk could be a lot of fun. Hopefully the townsfolk will start off initially dismissive of Carl, with the drunkard trying a variety of methods to catch the new arrival.

It doesn't need to be the primary focus, but it really would be a bad decision not to at least get a couple of funny moments from this delight of a character.
