Sonic The Hedgehog Review: 10 Biggest Questions Answered
8. Which Characters Fall Flat?
The human characters may have looked irritating in the trailers, but that's nothing compared to what we see in the film.
There is barely a three dimensional character in sight, which is okay if there is something striking about them. Jim Carrey as villainous Dr. Robotnik most definitely brings a stack of energy to the table, even if feels a little bit like Jim Carrey playing a heightened version of himself.
The majority of the support characters prove to be insufferable. Elfina Luk as Secretary of Homeland Security is the chief culprit, although the writers do him no favours.
Adam Pally plays dumb cop Billy Robb like he's half asleep, while Natasha Rothwell mistakes screaming in a high pitch voice for humour in a role that should have managed at least a few cheap laughs. Even central characters Tom and Maddie Wachowski falls flat at times, though the respective actors are generally okay.
The amount of support characters falling flat may not have been such an issue if not for the ridiculous amount of screen time wasted on them. And yet there was only a minute for Crazy Carl. But more on that later.
