Spectre: 7 Most Compelling Pieces Of Evidence That Christoph Waltz Is Blofeld

6. That Shadowy Demeanour

One of the Blofeld's defining attributes stems from his ability to remain obscured - that is, out of shot, or hidden in shadow, with the camera conveniently placed in order to prevent us from getting a good look at his identity. And guess what, folks? The Spectre trailers have gone down the exact same route with this Franz Oberhauser character - when we first hear his voice, he's veiled in shadows, which could just be a stylistic technique that Sam Mendes opted for for increased dramatic purposes... or it could be a nod to Ernst Stavro Blofeld, supervillain extraordinaire. It's difficult to know whether Mendes is purposely making call backs by way of a mere shadow (lots of villains in lots of movies have been introduced this way, after all), but there's no way the enigmatic positioning isn't supposed to remind audiences of Blofeld. No cat, though.
