Spider-Man: 10 Reasons Sony Should Fire Andrew Garfield

9. He Could Be Replaced With Miles Morales

There is not enough diversity in modern superhero films - Marvel are only just introducing Black Panther, and DC won't bring the African American Cyborg to the silver screen on his own until 2020. Ejecting Andrew Garfield could pave the way for a Miles Morales based movie, perhaps set in the same universe as The Amazing Spider-Man, but with new characters. This would avoid rebooting the entire franchise, and it would bring an interesting new dynamic to Spider-Man movies. In the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, Peter Parker was killed by Green Goblin a few years ago, replaced by a Hispanic kid named Miles Morales. This new Spider-Man has battled former foes of Peter Parker and amassed a rogue€™s gallery of his own. He would make an amazing character for a movie, so Garfield's removal could pave the way for a genuinely fascinating iteration of the wallcrawler. Sony could bring this to the silver screen without repeating the familiar origins of Peter Parker. It would be original and it would be interesting, maybe even allowing Andrew Garfield to reprise his role in order to go out with a bang during the start of a movie. This may be wishful thinking, but it would be spectacular nonetheless.
