Spider-Man: 10 Reasons Sony Should Fire Andrew Garfield

8. There Isn€™t Much Chemistry Between Him And The Rest Of The Cast

Obviously he has excellent chemistry with Emma Stone, but Garfield€™s relationships with Ben Parker, Aunt May and Harry Osborne all felt rather contrived. Part of this was due to the script and the studio, but the actor is also partly to blame. He couldn€™t help that Harry Osborne was left out of the first movie, making it hard to believe that the two boys were best friends, but there wasn't flare in the friendship between Spider-Man and Goblin's alter egos. The closest the two actors came to having chemistry was when Parker spoke about the love of his life, Gwen Stacy, but even this didn€™t last that long. The scenes that the two actors share lack any excitement €“ they are not gripping or enthralling. Any future sequels would draw on the sense of betrayal Osborne felt when he realised that his best friend is Spider-Man. But as there is no dynamism to the scenes between the two it'll be hard to swallow. Perhaps with a different actor it would work, or, even better, with a different Spider-Man, like Miles Morales.
