The Bad...
5. He's Involved With The Netflix Series
In a way, Drew Goddard's involvement with Marvel's upcoming Netflix series is a good thing. Whilst he eventually bowed out of showrunning duties for Daredevil, conceding that responsibility to his former Angel writing partner Steven S. DeKnight, he's clearly been immersed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so he knows how it works from the inside. Daredevil's a street-level hero who mainly operates in New York, too, basically working as a more gritty, less colourful version of Spider-Man; so he knows the practical and tonal expectations put on him. But at the same time, the work he did on that series might end up hampering him some what. Is it possible that Goddard is a little too close to the material? Might his head still be in a Daredevil place, which tends to skew a little more serious-minded and crime drama than the one-liner-laden escapades of your friendly neighbourhood wall crawler? Might it have been better to get someone totally fresh to the MCU, much as they have with every other movie so far?
