4. Tony Stark Will Be Involved (But Dead)

Rumour:

The crown jewel of the Reddit plot leak states that the plot will be driven by the theft of some sort of prestigious technology developed by Tony Stark that Mysterio will steal and Peter Parker will seek to retrieve.

And the kicker? Tony Stark is dead, having been killed off in Avengers 4.

Reaction:

Unfortunately for fans of Tony Stark, it makes a LOT of sense that he would be killed off in Avengers 4 and that Peter would open it mourning his mentor. Stark was very obviously immediately guilt-ridden by Peter's death in Infinity War and his entire arc bears the hallmarks of a character heading towards noble self-sacrifice. Perhaps he'll do just that to bring Peter back, somehow?

And the idea of stolen tech also fits in with Homecoming's approach to recovered tech being important to the villains of Spider-Man's world.
