Spider-Man: Far From Home - Everything We Know So Far

13. Jake Gyllenhaal Will Play Mysterio

Much like the Lizard, Mysterio was actually poised to make his full cinematic debut in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4. Obviously that never came to pass, and Bruce Campbell, who had cameoed in every Spider-Man film at that stage, never got the chance to bring special-effects-artist-turned-criminal Quentin Beck to life.

It's not all bad though, because now the responsibility for playing Mysterio has fallen to Jake Gyllenhaal, one of the industry's finest talents and one more than capable of doing the role justice.

Potentially more important to note, however, is that Mysterio could be due a change. It's difficult to see where the original version of the character could factor into Far From Home's synopsis (he never really was someone with "elevated ideas"), so it's possible that, like Vulture in Homecoming, the villain will be given a long-overdue makeover.
