Without delving too heavily into speculation territory, it seems to be pretty obvious where Far From Home's going with Mysterio. The character, typically depicted as a villain in Spidey's comics, will be introduced as a hero who conveniently manages to deal with the threat of several 'elemental' villains. He earns the adulation of the public, before Spidey exposes him as a fraud who uses cheap parlour tricks to earn fame and fortune. Simple, but effective.

That might seem pretty presumptive, but it's important to remember that Far From Home will pack plenty of surprises. There's still the presence of the Chameleon to account for, as well as a potential appearance from Spider-Woman to factor in too, but Mysterio isn't exactly a closed book either. In fact, one of the most interesting things about the trailer occurs just when he comes on screen, where he takes on Hydro-Man in Venice.

Blocking one of the creature's attacks, we see Mysterio conjure something that looks remarkably similar to one of Doctor Strange's physical constructs, in this case a shield. It is much less likely to be genuine in this case, but it's still interesting to note that Gyllenhaal's character has opted to imitate sorcery in this instance. Who knows, maybe we'll even get a reference or two to the Sorcerer Supreme?
