Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer Review - 7 Ups & 4 Downs

2. Let' Just Ignore Spider-Man Is Dead, Then Shall We?

Peter Parker Death
Marvel Studios

Look, as soon as Far From Home was announced, Sony and Marvel had a problem: they knew that by the time it came to marketing the film, Peter Parker would be "dead" in Avengers: Infinity War and there'd be no way of getting around that fact without spoiling the fact that Infinity War's ending isn't sticking.

To their credit, they did use that in the title reveal of Far From Home as Tom Holland pretended to be confused over how he wasn't dead, but in this trailer - or more importantly AROUND this trailer - there's no mention of it.

It's understandable that it's a minefield, but to not even mention it is asking for trouble. There are audience members - particularly younger kids - who would have watched the end of Infinity War and fully bought into it. For them, Spidey is properly dead, so it's all going to be very confusing to see him turn up absolutely fine with no mention - even cheekily - of how that's at all possible.

Quite what they could have done is not clear, but not even attempting something looks like an error.
