Spider-Man: Homecoming - 12 Biggest Rumours You Need To Know (June 26)
6. A New MCU Hero Will Appear In The Sequel
The Rumour
While Tony Stark figures in Homecoming pretty strongly, he won't be back for the sequel (presumably because he'll be killed in Infinity War), but Sony and Marvel apparently have a deal that will bring another MCU hero into Spidey's sequel in his place.
Strong rumours seem to suggest it could be Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, for some reason.
Rating: 7/10
The hero appearing is not to be contested, as it seems to be a given. The fact that it would be Hawkeye is less convincing.
It still always feels like Marvel are trying to distract from Hawkeye being killed off, and part of that comes down to the fact that he'd be so easy to remove from the MCU without too many shock-waves. Sure, it would be sad, but will he really survive Phase 3 when we know Avengers 4 is going to be the end for some of the original MCU heroes?
Still, he does deserve more of an opportunity to shine, and in the absence of a Black Widow movie, having him turn up in Spider-Man would be a smart way to give him more time to play with. Even if it would be better to team Spidey with Paul Rudd's Ant-Man, which Tom Holland actually wants.
