Zendaya was far and away one of the best things about Spider-Man: Homecoming, and though her name might not be Mary Jane, no one could honestly complain about her being the MCU's M. J.
Michelle, as she's known in the film, was wry, funny, and charming beyond belief, and fans quickly latched onto her after Homecoming's release. Further to that, seeing Zendaya feature more heavily in Homecoming's sequel would be fantastic - particularly if Watts were to further develop her and Peter's relationship following on from the events of both Avengers films.
However, despite owning pretty much every scene where she featured, fans still don't know that much about Michelle. She's clearly smart, having carried the Academic Decathlon team to victory, but little else is known about the character. There could be further links to key characters from the comics already in place, but if not, Michelle is a welcome addition to Spidey's lore, and a character fans are sure to appreciate more in the sequel.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
