One of the best things to emerge out of each successive Marvel outing, usually, is the chance to see all the concept art that influenced the eventual costumes that made it through to the finished product. In Homecoming's case, designer Ryan Meinerding was on hand to design Spidey's costume, and some of the designs were magnificent.
As of now, Peter Parker is in the Iron-Spider armour, and it looks magnificent. That said, it might not be the best costume for everyday web-slinging, and in finding the perfect balance between an upgrade and the street-based roots of the OG costume, Meinerding may have already found the perfect answer.
One of the designs, modelled heavily on Ryan Stegman's original Superior Spider-Man costume, is sleek, high-tech, and a breath of fresh air. The red and black also harkens back to Steve Ditko's original Spidey costume, and though divesting from the blue that has been present in each of Spidey's onscreen outfits might seem a drastic measure, it's one rooted in the character's literary origins.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
