Spider-Man: Homecoming - 9 Big Implications For The Future Of The MCU
5. Pepper Potts Is Back, And Tony Stark Might Be Getting Married
After sitting out Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War, Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts ended her four-year hiatus from the MCU with a brief return in Homecoming.
She only appears in the one scene, although immediately it feels like the character has never been away, and it's one that could have a fair amount of impact on Tony Stark.
In order to appease the crowd of reporters, whom Tony has promised a major announcement, he proposes to Pepper, which is a huge leap from where they were in Civil War (when they'd broken up). Assuming they don't just use this as a stunt for the camera after Peter's rejection, it means Tony Stark could soon be a married man, which might change how he approaches things. We've already seen him in Civil War becoming more aware of his actions, while he's toyed around with the idea of not being Iron Man before.
Being married could further change his outlook on life as an Avenger, and comes at a time when there are persistent rumours about Stark's arc ending with Avengers 4. If nothing else it means that Pepper should be around more in Infinity War and Avengers 4, which is nice.
