Spider-Man: Homecoming - 9 Big Implications For The Future Of The MCU
4. Peter's Identity Is Out
Peter Parker is usually ultra-protective of his identity, doing anything he can to stop people from finding out. And yet, in just a couple of movies his identity is already known by Tony Stark, Pepper Potts, Happy Hogan, Adrian Toomes, Ned, and Aunt May.
The first three won't have much of a bearing on things, since they're around the Avengers, but the others could be more critical. Toomes is keeping quiet for now, but there's always the chance he'll spill the beans eventually, or come looking for Peter himself. Ned, meanwhile, can't keep his mouth shut, and could quite easily give the game away at school (as he comes close to doing in Homecoming). It's not much of a stretch to imagine someone like Michelle or Flash finding out.
Then there's Aunt May, which is the bigger, since Peter is desperate to hide it from her above all others. That could completely change their dynamic for the sequel, but also how Peter goes about being Spider-Man. Will he be less of a risk-taker? The other possibility is that we see a Spider-Man who becomes more open with his identity. After all, secret identities aren't really a thing in the MCU, and maybe that's why we're seeing Peter be so careless. Spider-Man's iconic unmasking didn't happen in Civil War, but it could be something they attempt in the future.
