Spider-Man: Homecoming - 9 Big Implications For The Future Of The MCU

2. Spider-Man Still Has To Become An Avenger

Speaking of the Avengers, Peter Parker becomes the rare person to turn down an invite to the superhero team. It's a wise move, one that fits with the events of the film and where the character is at the end of them.

However, it's also one that - presumably - won't last. As it stands, Spider-Man has at least three more appearances to come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and probably more after that too): Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers 4, and Homecoming 2. So that's the next two Avengers film, and then the very first one after Phase 3 comes to an end.

That positions Spidey as a big part of the MCU and the Avengers, which means that he'll almost certainly have to join the team in an official capacity sooner rather than later. After all, it'd be odd if he went through two Avengers films, and then led Marvel into their next Phase, without doing so.
