Spider-Man: Homecoming - Every Character Ranked Worst To Best
10. Aunt May
For all the outrage at the very idea of a young, sexually active Aunt May coming to the MCU in the shape of Marisa Tomei, she's absolutely the right fit for this version of Peter Parker. And her age is entirely fitting her relationship with him.
The best thing about this Aunt May is that she doesn't require the sort of emotional protection Peter has to give her in the comics, and she's never really played as a victim (even though Peter hints at her going through hell recently). At no point do you believe she will keel over and die if she finds out he's Spider-Man, and her relationship with him feels a lot more authentic than if she were played by an older actor.
She's also an effective anchor for Peter to the real world, and it's her who ultimately picks up the pieces when Tony takes his suit away, reminding him of what he really is and where his heart should be. And that dynamic is a perfect stand-in for the whole "with great power..." speech that would usually do that.
Plus, that final "what the fu-" moment is just delightful.
