Spider-Man: Homecoming - Every Character Ranked Worst To Best

9. Flash Thompson

Though there will no doubt be some complaints about the decision to turn hulking jock bully Flash Thompson into a far more dorky, slightly bumbling bully played by Tony Revolori, the change serves Thompson, and the film well.

The jock archetype wouldn't have fit in Peter Parker's school of excellence, and it's far smarter to take the framework of the original character - he's still rich, he still loves Spider-Man and he still bullies Peter - but to transform him into something that better suits his new context. Instead of hating Peter because he's a dork, he hates him because he's not as smart and is threatened by that.

And Revolori's performance is still layered enough that you don't really hate him as much as pity him. He's pathetic - committed to upholding a personal image that is entirely fake and just as much hiding who he really is as Peter Parker and Adrian Toomes.
