2. Standalone Appeal

Spider-Man 2 can certainly be watched in isolation, though it naturally plays better if you're seen the previous film, which cements Peter's love for MJ and Harry Osborn's inner turmoil regarding his father's death. For the most part, though, it's easy to watch as a single movie.

Homecoming is fashioned as a kinda-origin story of sorts, so it has an easy advantage here, having links to the wider MCU with Tony Stark's presence, but also operating extremely well as an introduction to the character.

Winner: A tough call, but Homecoming introducing so many characters makes it naturally feel more standalone, even if it's always within the context of the MCU.
