Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse - Every Version Of Spidey, Ranked

5. Spider-Ham

Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse
Sony

If Nicolas Cage’s casting as Spider-Noir has you nodding your head in agreement, John Mulaney as silly little Spider-Ham might even cause you to break out into a little smile too as you stroke your chin and think, ‘Good job, Sony’.

Because just like Cage, Mulaney is absolutely perfect, fully committing to his porsine personality. He already has animation experience from Big Mouth, and it shows here. His lines are used sparingly, sprinkled in between the more major conversations Gwen, Miles and Peter have. Every one of them is gold. It was hard to imagine how he’d fit in the movie when it was announced; now it’s difficult to imagine it without him.

He brings with him a sense of whimsy, and while the use of comic books to retell the back story is cool, it’s nice to see Spider-Ham change things up. The fact they managed to include the fact he was bitten by a radioactive pig in the film while still keeping it flowing is a huge credit to them.

As you might expect, he brings a lovely warmth to every scene, and a Looney Tunes-esque comedy to his action. The cartoon mallet in particular is wonderful.
