Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse - Every Version Of Spidey, Ranked

1. Miles Morales

Shameik Moore completely steals the show in Into The Spider-Verse. They’ve peeled Miles Morales out of the comic books and pasted him directly onto the screen. Along with Mahershala Ali as Uncle Aaron and Brian Tyree Henry as his father, there’s more than enough here for this to be a solo movie. If he gets one of this quality again, selling Spidey back to Marvel in exchange for the universe rights will seem like a shrewd move on Sony’s behalf.

Miles is positively dripping with cool, although they nail that paper-thin confidence of the teenage years. The fact he’s able to learn on the job rather than need a training montage helps the movie’s pacing a great deal too. Times when he talks about his shoes being undone as a design choice really make him feel like he exists outside of just the movie. As superhero leads go, this is as well rounded as they tend to get in their first outing.

He’s endearing, charming, funny and above all else relatable. The action sequences are great, but what solidifies Miles at the top his how much he embodies the movie’s central theme. Sometimes, you have to take a leap of faith.
