Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse - Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
5. Jefferson Davis
While seeing Aunt May finally being able to roll up her sleeves and fight the good fight was a very good move on Into the Spider-Verse's part, there is something to be said about the effectiveness of the "oblivious parental figure doesn't know their kid is Spider-Man" situation.
Jefferson Davis is a prime example of this trope being used in the best possible way.
As stated before, there are some great moments of conflict and dramatic irony between Miles Morales and Aaron Davis. However, those have nothing on the moments shared between Miles and his father, Jefferson.
From the beginning of the film it's apparent that the two are at odds and that things have been that way for a long time. It's also clear that Jefferson is trying his hardest to connect with his son, but nothing seems to take.
The fact that Miles has taken up the mantle of Spider-Man, a figure Jefferson detests, certainly doesn't help matters.
As both characters continue to grow, however, the walls start to come down and Jefferson truly gets to shine as a character. Honestly, the speech Jefferson gives to an incapacitated Miles towards the end of the film is easily the emotional highlight of the whole affair.
