3. Bryce Dallas Howard - Gwen Stacy

When Emma Stone came along and gave us the Gwen Stacy we all deserved (while her on-screen father, Denis Leary did the same for Captain Stacy), she made Bryce Dallas Howard's previous performance look even more uninspired. Sam Raimi's Gwen Stacy, after all, was badly let down by the material.

Howard is forced to spend time opposite a scenery-chewing emo Tobey Maguire and she singularly fails to capture any of the audience's attention, melting away into the background. When you think of those scenes, Peter is alone, enjoying the Symbiote's power, he's probably never using his new "cool" to seduce Gwen. And that's pretty fatal for her.

She's hamstrung by a lack of screen-time, but in a world of caricatures, to be forgettable is an unfortunate crime.
